Study on Frequency Doubling of CO_2 Laser Radiation in New AgGa_(1-x)In_xSe_2 Crystals

A new promising nonlinear quaternary AgGa_(1-x)In_xSe_2 crystal has been successfully grown by the Bridgman technique in our laboratory.The crystal properties including optical transmission,infrared low magnification imaging,reflection loss and absorption coefficients were investigated.Its coefficients of the Sellmeier dispersion equations were calculated and Sellmeier equations were determined in the wavelength range of 0.9-19μm for different indium contents by using linear interpolation based on the Sellmeier equations of pure AgGaSe_2 and AgInSe_2.The corresponding phase-matching diagrams for the second harmonic generation(SHG) of CO_2 laser radiation were calculated and plotted together with our SHG experimental data.The frequency doubling of TEA CO_2 laser 10.6μm radiation was demonstrated and also compared with AgGaSe_2 crystal experimentally.The measured phase matching angle θ and acceptance external angle Δθ_(ext)·L are 88.2° and 7.7°·cm respectively for 1# AgGa_(1-x)In_xSe_2.The frequency doubling efficiency of AgGa_(1-x)In_xSe_2 is nearly 3 times higher than that of the AgGaSe_2.
