Synthesis of AgInS_2 Nanopins by Organic Molten Salt Method

Chalcopyrite AgInS2 nanopins were synthesized by organic molten salt method(OMS) at 200 ℃.AgNO3,InCl3· 4H2O and thiourea were used as reaction sources which were dissolved in urea and choline chloride solvent.The crystalline,microscopy,and stoichiometric composition of AgInS2 nanopins were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scan electron microscopy(SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS).The results show that AgInS2 with chalcopyrite crystal structure is obtained.The size of these crystals is about 50-80 nm which was calculated by Scherrer formula.The nanocrystals are highly uniform and very straight.The sizes of nanopins were about 60-80 nm×1000-1500 nm.The relative contents of Ag,In and S are 26.66%,24.82% and 50.52% respectively which means the stoichiometry of AgInS2 nanopin is about 1∶1∶2.The limiting wavelength is 661 nm and the band gap energy was estimated to be about 1.88 eV.Based on all results mentioned above,it could be concluded that OMS method is preferable to synthesize AgInS2 nanopin.
