Preparation and Microwave Sintering Performance of β-Sialon Synthesized from Fly Ash

β-Sialon was synthesized using fly ash and activated carbon as starting materials by carbothermal reduction and nitridation.The β-Sialon powder was sintered by microwave sintering method with Y2O3.The results showed that the β-Sialon powder with z value of 2 could be synthesized with the mass ratio of activated carbon to fly ash(m c/ m f) of 0.43 at 1450 ℃ for 6 h and the N2 flow of 0.5 L /min.The sintered sample with density of 2.86 g/cm3,relative density of 92.3% and HV0.5 of 1528 was obtained at 1500 ℃ for 20 min by microwave sintering method.
