Synthesis of One-dimensional Ag Nanowires by Polyol Method

One-dimensional Ag nanowires were synthesized by reducing precursor of AgNO3with ethylene glycol in the presence of gold seeds and PVP which was considered as the surfactant. The sample was charactered by X-ray diffractometer,field emission scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectrometer. The results indicate that the silver nanowires are face centered cubic structure; the length of nanowiers is about 2-8 μm; diameter of the nanowires is between 75-150 nm,and the yield of nanowires is high. It is also found that the reaction time and the molar ratio of repeating of PVP to Ag ions play important roles in the finally morphology of silver nanowiers. The silver nanowires obtained have five twinned crystalline nanostructure,and the growth mechanism of silver nanowires was discussed in detail.
