Study on a Rapid Polycrystalline Synthesis Method for Some Sulfide / Selenide Infrared Nonlinear Materials

Some compounds containing sulfur / selenium element have take up important positions in the mid-far infrared nonlinear optical materials. The polycrystals with high purity act as the base for the growth of high quality single crystals. However,the traditional sulfide / selenide polycrystals synthesis methods have shortcomings of one kind or another,the operators need complicated temperature risingprograms,long times and so on. Hence,a modified rapid polycrystals synthesis method was introduced into some sulfide / selenide compounds,such as GaSe,AgGaSe_2,AgGaGeS_4,AgGaGe_5Se_(12),about 200-300 g polycrystals could be obtained less than 48 h per run. The synthetic materials were characterized by XRD,and the test results show the prepared polycrystals were high purity and single phase. Single crystals were obtained successfully by using the corresponding polycrystals. The reaction mechanisms and related problems existed in this synthesis method were also discussed within the paper.
