Growth of Cd∶PbWO 4 Crystal and Its Properties

Cd∶PbWO 4 crystals were grown by Czochralski Methtod.The optimal parameters for crystal growth are typically as follows:temperature gradients above and below the surface are 40-50 ℃/cm and 17-25 ℃/cm respectively,pulling rate is 2-3 mm/h,and rotation speed 25-30 r/min. The liquid flow transition can be effectively eliminated under this condition resulting in avoiding the defects induced by this transition.Transmission of Cd∶ PbWO 4 is apparently better than those of other kinds of undpoed PbWO 4 crystals.The luminescence efficiency of Cd∶PbWO 4 is 21.2 p.e/MeV,While 10.5 for high purity PbWO 4 , 8.2 for analytical pure annealed PbWO 4,and 6.7 for unannealed PbWO 4 .The mean decay time of Cd∶PbWO 4 is 26ns.We can conclude that Cd∶PbWO 4 is a scintillation crystal of noble properties.
