Study on the Transient Thermal Field of the Air Disc Brake of Vehicle

Based on study of the energy dissipation of disc brake during the vehicle braking, the finite element model for analyzing the transient thermal field of the brake disc and brake pad during the urgent braking was established. The generation of frictional heating and the transient distributing of temperature of the brake were analyzed by the direct thermomechanical coupling field finite element method.The results show that the highest temperature and the time reaching the highest temperature in the disc’s and the pad’s contact surface are different, the temperature of the pad’s contact surface almost goes up from inner radius to outer radius, the higher temperature area of the disc’s contact surface gets close to the middle radius and the lower temperature area gets close to the inner or outer radius.Compare with the indirect thermomechanical coupling field finite element method,the direct thermomechanical coupling field finite element method considers the transient interactive affection of thermal field and stress-strain field of disc brake, and the results of the thermal field is more reasonable.
