Synthesis and Tribological Properties of MoS_2 Nanospheres

Molybdenum disulfide nanospheres were prepared by a surfactant-assisted method with polyethylene glycol as wrapping agent.The phases,morphologies and microstructures were characterized by XRD,SEM and TEM.The synthetical triboloical performance of MoS2 nanospheres was tested through a four-ball tribological testing unit,and compared with that of commercial ultrafine MoS2 particles.The optimization mechanism on tribological performance and the formation mechanism of MoS2 nanospheres were discussed preliminarily.The results show that the as-obtained sample is MoS2 nanospheres with a particle size about 100 nm.Compared with commercial ultrafine powder,the MoS2 nanospheres show better synthetical tribological performance.
