Scouring and silting characteristics of downstream river channel of hydropower projects at abroad

Construction of hydropower project will cause variation of flow and sediment in downstream river channel,especially,the sediment retaining of hydropower project will break the balance of original relative balance of downstream rive channel.In order to adapt to new flow-sediment condition,the scouring and silting of rive channel will be adjusted,resulting in variation of downstream river regime and types,influencing the flood control and navigation of downstream river channel.We analyze the characteristics flow-sediment variation and scouring and silting of downstream river channel and the change of river regime and types after construction of typical hydropower projects at abroad.The analysis results show that the downstream river channel is generally scoured,and the variation of scouring and stilting downstream river channel and the change of river regime and type related with composition of river bank and bed,river plane form and reservoir operation mode etc.
