Numerical simulation on response of hydrodynamic condition to reclamation of Changxing Island

The reclamation of Changxing Island has an impact on the surrounding hydrodynamic condition. In order to analyze the influential range and degree,a two- dimensional hydrodynamic model was established for Changjiang estuary based on a large amount of in- situ monitoring data. The current fields before and after the project construction was simulated by the model. The simulation results show that the influence of the project is mainly on the water area near the construction site such as the downstream of Hengsha Channel on the east side of the project and the south water channel of Changxing Island on the south side of the project. The impact on the whole river regime is relatively small.
