Desires and Practices for Old-age Support in China

This paper, based on sample survey data,examines the values,desires and practices for old-age support in central and western China.The study finds that parent-son old-age support values and practices are still very prevalent in rural areas in central and western China. The government needs to play a leading role in all kinds of old-age arrangements in rural areas.
