Influence of Floating Population on their Families

Based on the survey data in Nan Chong city of Sichuan province,conducted by the Population Development Research Centre of Renmin University of China in July 2005,this paper analyzes the state of rural emigrants and their impacts on their family members at home.The result shows that these floating population tend to go out alone or together with their spouses,left their children fostered by their grandparents at home.Most of the emigrants send remittance home which improves the families' general living condition noticeably,so the percentage of people who support the outgoing of family members takes absolute advantage among the family members at home.But such a considerable number of emigrants also cause negative impacts,for instance,the grandparental raising affects the education of remained children harmfully,and the lack of labor force increases the burdens of the family members at home,furthermore,meanwhile the income gap tends to expand.
