STUDY ON THE SULFURIZATION OF NiO-MoO_3/γ-Al_2O_3 CATALYST

The sulfurization of NiO-MoO_3/γ-Al_2O_3 prepared by stepwise impregnation method in laboratory was studied by Temperature Pro grammed Technique with different sulfurizing agents(H_2S and CS_2).The more effective sulfurizing agent are H_2S for calcined catalyst and CS_2/H_2 for reduced one respectively,but with different sulfurization mechanism.H_2S sulfurizes the calcined sample by S—O exchange.CS_2/H_2 reduces the calcined sample and produces H_2S first on metal sites(mainly Ni-)then the nascent H_2S sulfurizes the sample.CS_2/H_2 follows a consecutive reduction and sulfurization procedure.The catalyst might reach the same sulfurization degree using different agents.An optimum sulfurization condition has been suggested:reducing the sample with H_2 up to a certain temperature between 300-400℃,then introducing high content CS_2/H_2 mixture and performing the sulfurization.
