EFFECTOF MgOPROMOTER ONCO OXIDATION OVERPd/γ- Al2O3 CATALYSTS

Theeffectof MgOdopingto Pd / γ- Al2 O3indifferent methodsonthepro pertiesof palladium supported catalysts was investigated- Itis confirmed that MgOpromoter canimprovethe activitiesofpalladium supported catalystsfor COoxidation significantly- High dispersed MgOon γ- Al2O3lowers COlight- offtemperature ofcatalysts by upto 44 ℃- The techniques such as XRD, XPS, TPR and oxygen adsorption measurements were usedforthecharacterization ofthe catalysts- Theresultsindicatethatinthe co - impregna tiontype sample (Pd - MgO/Al2O3) ,there is the highest active Pd dispersion ,and in the divided impregnation type one (Pd/MgO- Al2O3) ,thereis higheractive Pd contentand dis persionthanin Pd/γ- Al2O3- The oxygen concentration effectof MgObenefitsthe COoxida tion reaction on catalysts surface- Itis also discussed thatthe synergy between Pd and MgO enhancesthe activities ofthe catalystsfor COoxidation-
