View on the trend of preservatives in cosmetics from frequency of use

This paper introduces the Voluntary Cosmetic Registration Program(VCRP) of FDA and the benefits of its participation.Reviews the data of frequency of use of preservatives in cosmetics in the past nearly thirty years released by Cosmetics and Toiletries.Describes the vicissitudes of the top 20 preservatives by statistic tables.Introduces the trend and the application of some importanted kinds of preservatives,such as Diazolidinyl Urea,Imidazolidinyl Urea,DMDM Hydantoin,Quaternium-15,Formaldehyde/Paraformaldehyde,Bronopol,Methylchloroisothiazolinone/Methylisothiazolinone,Triclosan,Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate(IPBC),Phenoxyethanol and Parabens.
