The operation of high-speed railway has brought great impact on the tourism industry in the cities along the route. In this thesis, first, by using methods of principal component analysis and cluster analysis, the 14 cities along the Shanghai-Kunming highspeed railway are divided into three categories. Then, using the multiple linear regression model to study the change of the number of tourists brought by the railway passenger traffic volume in each class of cities. It shows that the high-speed railway has the significant potential to attract tourism resources in the cities with rich tourism resources and good economic strength as well as cities supported by the developed tertiary industry, which has led to an increase in passenger traffic in these areas.
