Discussion about the Utilization of Wind Energy Resources in High Mountains and Canyons

With the real-time observation data recorded by wind tower in Fengyi,Maoxian County during June 2009 to May 2010,the parameters of wind energy resources in wind farm were calculated and analyzed in detail.In Maoxian County,the wind speed is great throughout the year,the wind direction is stable,the wind starts at regular time,and the wind speed during 12:00 to 20:00 reaches the requirements for construction of wind farm.There are lots of advantages for building wind farm here,as the wind energy resources are rich,which is good complementary to the hydropower,and may conduce less farmland impropriation,less immigration,and less environmental pollution,also has the national policy supports here.The wind in Maoxian County,with the characteristics of gradually changed from the easterly wind in the lower layer to westerly wind in the higher layer,and the wind speed decreases from the bottom up,may course the turbine height for erection of wind power to be relatively low,where only the small or medium sized wind farm,other than large-scale wind farm,is suitable for constructing,and has certain value for development and utilization.
