Structure Physical Modeling Research of the Southern Section of the East Sichuan Fold Belt

The Sichuan basin is surrounded by a series of left-lateral strike-slip faults.The east Sichuan fold belt is composed of a series of en echelon folds,spreading into the brush to the south.This study deals with the relation between rotary deformation of the Sichuan basin and the east Sichuan fold belt by six kinds of physical simulation experiments.The experimental results show that the plastic caprock is favorable for the formation of the eastern Sichuan fold belt which was controlled by the parallel faults in the basement and closely related to the detachment structure.The horsetail divergence of the southern section of the east Sichuan fold belt has need of superimposition of be clockwise strike-slip by NW-trending stress.In addition,the structural simulation of the rotary-extrusion model of the east Sichuan fold belt provides evidence for the clockwise rotation mechanism of the Sichuan basin.
