Review on Preparation of Cross-Linked Chitosanand Adsorption of Heavy Metal Ions

In recent years, much attention has been paid to the research of chitosan and its derivatives as adsorbent for heavy metal ions. Crosslinking modification of chitosan has become an important approach to improve its adsorption properties to heavy metal ions. Different cross-linking agents has an important influence on the adsorption properties of chitosan adsorbent. By crosslinking, mechanical properties, acid solubility and adsorption ability of chitosan can be significantly improved. In this paper, the existing research related to synthesis methods of cross-linked chitosan and the absorption process of metal ions were reviewed systematically. In addition, the development potential and research trend of those kinds of materials were prospected.
