Objective The hemorheological changes in rabbits with reversible obstructive jaundice is experimentsally studied. Methods The general bilie ducts of experimental rabbits were gripped with a 15cm hemostatic-pincers to induce reversible obstructive jaundice.Their Serum bilirubin(TBIL and D)BIL)and bile acid(BA)were assayed later with a Backman biochemical auto-analyzer;and their hemorheological properties were determined with STEELLEX R20 hemo-viscosimeter.Results The TBIL,DBIL and BA of the control group(7 days after sham operation)were(5.90±1.49),(1.60±0.58)and(21.06±5.86)μmol/L.These indexes in the reversible obstructive jaundice group(7d)were(31.13±6.98),(16.70±5.20) and(61.52±20.65)μmol/L,significantly increased over the control(P0.01).In 3 to 30d after grip,TBIL,DBIL and BA in reversible obstructive jaundice groups were continuously increasing. It was demonstrated that the whole blood viscosities(high-,middle-high-,middlelow-,and low-shearing rate)were(3.63±0.12),(4.65±0.16),(7.58±0.44) and(13.73±1.10),and the plasma viscosity was(2.82±0.51) in control group being of no evident difference to those in normal group(P0.05).The whole blood viscosities in reversible obstructive jaundice group(7d)were(4.17±0.33)、(5.38±0.60)、(9.07±1.09)、(16.88±2.90),significantly higher than those in control group(P0.05 or 0.01);and the plasma viscosity in this group was(1.62±0.10),significantly lower than that in control group. The whole blood viscosities were increasing and the group was(1.62±0.10),significantly lower than that in control group. The whole blood viscosities were increasing and the plasma viscosities decreasing continuously in 3 to 14d groups with reversible obstructive jaundice;and in 30d group the both were recovering. Conclusion The reversible obstructive jaundice may be of significant effects on the rheolgical properties of peripheral blood.
