Research on channel regulation scheme of Baimaosha reach in the Yangtze Estuary

Through analysis of river regime,the characteristics of river regime evolution of Baimaosha reach in the Yangtze Estuary were summarized.Several factors,which were adverse to the development of channel,were pointed out,and the solution method was proposed.Beach protection project was suggested to protect the sand body and increase the hydrodynamic forces of south and north channels of Baimaosha.The 2-D tidal current numerical simulation model developed by Estuarine Coastal Science Research Center of Shanghai was used to simulate the regulation effect.The results of calculation show that the beach protection dike of Baimaosha can protect the sand body effectively and increase the hydrodynamic forces of both channels during ebb tide.
