Synthesis and property study of nanosize tin oxide particles byreverse microemulsions

Pure and doped rutile phase tin dioxide with particle diameters ranging in 3~6 nm were synthesized using sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOT)-isooctane reverse microemulsion. The formation of pure phase tin oxide is confirmed based on the X-ray diffraction analysis. XRD, TEM, FTIR and UV-VIS were used to characterize the as-prepared precursor and 600 ℃ calcined oxide. Both the pure and doping systems are of better disperse degree and smaller particle size. There are two separated exiton peaks occurred in these two SnO 2 nano-systems. The doping of copper ions cause the absorption band edges to red-shift slightly.
