The Effect and Its Order of Magnitude of Suspended Sediment on Turbulence Intensity in Open Channel Flow

This paper presents an order-of-magnitude analysis of the effect of sediment suspension on the turbulence intensity in open channel flow based on two-phase flow model, under the assumption of synchronous turbulent fluctuation in both phases, the result shows that dilute supended fine particles weaken the turbulence intensity. This effect is stronger atlarger value of dimensionless parameter Z , and becomes remarkable when the orcter of magnitude of Z is 10° orhigher.
