Study on relations between cavity form and typical cavitor parameters

The forming process of natural cavity is closely related to the cavitor, the head shape of which decides the cavity size. Therefore, the study on cavitors has great significance in solving cavitation problem. In order to hold cavity form and provide design reference for engineering applications, numerical simulation of natural cavitation induced by typical cavitors has been presented by using the commercial software FLUENT. Consequently, empirical formulas between typical cavitor parameters and cavity shape are obtained under the conditions of zero incidence and small cavitation number in the paper. Furthermore, the numerical results fit well with the experimental results.
