Simulation of working face gas emission based on LBM

A simulation method of gas emission in working face was proposed in order to master the rules of gas transport in coal seam and gas diffusion in working face after emitting. Gas flow in coal seam belongs to seepage flow because the flow field is constituted by porous media, while the working face field is not the porous media, and the flow is a turbulent motion. For these, two new dynamic models for simulation of gas transport in coal seam and gas diffusion in working face after emitting were established respectively based on the double distributed Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM), the block couplingalgorithm was applied to realize coupling of two flow fields in coal seam and in working face. The model simulates gas transport in coal seam and gas diffusion in working face after emitting under the generally used U-type ventilation system.The simulation results demonstrate that gas distribution in working face after gas emitting can be known clearly and the rules of gas emission in working face can be gotten also, it provides a new method to further study coupling theories between coal and gas, and to understanding deeply mechanism of gas outburst and gas drainage.
