A Finite Element Representation of Two-phase Fluid Flow through Porous Medium with Horizontal Well

The isoperametric element method has been used to study the two-phase fluid flow characteristics through porous medium with horiaontal well. Establishment of a finite element mathematical model for the flow, its numerical solution, the associated computer program and the application are presented in detail. There are some differences as compared with others' work: in the mathematical model, vertical well and horizontal well are considered as the boundary of element,the elements formed are arbitrary hexahedron, and the model is solved by using the isoparametric coordinate transformation and Galetkin method. At last, the model is used to simulate the performance of five-spot pattern of vertical and horzontal well, and the results are very satisfied.
