The effects of flooding on growth and biomass allocation in Oenanthe javanica were investigated in the current study. The results showed that the plants might adjust their canopy height via petiole elongation and stolon extension,as well as more vertically-orientated leaves.Compared with the control, more adventitious roots were investigated in waterlogging plants. The biomass accumulation was significant ly inhibited by the stress, and the total value or the biomass of each organ decreased remarkably.Conversely, the supporting organ biomass ratio(SBR) and leaf mass ratio(LMR) increased. To alleviate the disadvantages of the submergence, therefore,Oenanthe javanica exhibit vertical growth and biomass re-allocation under flooding stress.
