A Comparative Study on Ovary Autotransplantation and Fetal Ovary Allotransplantation

Ovary autotransplantation and fetal ovary allotransplantation were performed in female mice. Estrus cycle was observed before and after transplantation. Histological study and radioimmunoassay were used to study the graft growth, and the proper time for fetal transplantation. 14 d after ovary autotransplantation, the ovarian structure showed normal. Serum P level increased. The estrus cycle reoccured. 7 to 14 d after fetal ovary (17th day gestation) allotransplantation, primordial follicles and preantral follicles could be found. This study indicates that fetal ovary (17th day of gestation) can grow and become mature after allotransplantation.
