Allotypic hybrid type flip bucket. Ⅰ. Hydraulic characteristics

This paper focuses on an experimental study of hydraulic performances of a new type dissipator,which combines the advantage of diffused bucket,contracted bucket and hybrid type bucket.Experiments were conducted on 1: 60 scale laboratory models of four bucket types,continuous flip bucket,contracted bucket,hybrid type bucket and combined bucket.The flow regime,jet trajectory and pressure distribution on the bottom and side face of the buckets were studied.The results of combined bucket indicate that as a result of its lower bucket contraction,its side face pressure is positive and flow cavitation can be avoided.An important observation on this bucket is that in the Froude number range from 5.27 to 6.0 its scour depth decreases with Froude number,with a depth reduction of roughly 20% compared with that of contracted flip bucket.
