On Conceptual Metaphor Teaching in Primary English

Metaphor is not only a cognitive way,but also an important way for human beings to survive.It permeates all aspects of language,culture,thinking and social life and shows extensive existence in primary English.This article explores the main features of conceptual metaphor,classifies conceptual metaphors,and discusses the cognitive features of children's metaphors and the necessity of metaphorical teaching.Finally,the main conceptual metaphors and teaching strategies in elementary English curriculum are discussed and analyzed,with a special emphasison the humanistic value of metaphor teaching.
