Test of Induced Charge with Simulated Thundercloud Background

To study induced charge with simulated thundercloud background,a thundercloud simulation test platform has been built,and the induced charge tester developed.The test platform consists of a metal disk with a 3m diameter.Change of electric field can be simulated by applying changing voltages to the metal disk.Slow changes of the electric field can be simulated by applying instantaneous power-off of the DC voltage to the disk,while fast changes can be simulated by applying impulse voltages to the disk.The induced charge can be measured with the tester using these two methods.The results show that the induced charge tester can measure simulated fast and slow fields.Therefore the developed tester can be use in the study of induced charge.
