The influence of arc plate material on electric arc electric power

How to further extinguish the electric arc is an important project for scholars in the field of low-voltage DC circuit breakers. According to the square direction of the electric dynamic force received by the electric arc, the present paper determines four typical positions of the electric arc in the operation process of the electric arc after the break of the contact of the breaker. The electric arc electric powers are calculated with the Ansys software when the arc plate materials are the iron and copper electrical arcs. Moreover, the simulations for the magnetic field distributions of the iron and copper are obtained, and the results are analyzed by the magnetic theory. It is proven that the arc electric power is significantly enhanced and the arc extinguishing effect is better when the arcing plate material is copper.
