REFINEMENT MECHANISM STUDY OF COMMERCIAL PURE Al UNDER PULSED MAGNETO OSCILLATION

The refinement mechanism of commercial pure Al under pulsed magneto oscillation was investigated by putting the metal gauze into the mold. The results indicated that a large amount of nuclei can be formed at the mold wall,on the surface of melt and solid / liquid interface. The technology of PMO utilizes high frequency changing electromagnetic field to induce changing electromagnetic force in the melt. The force can reduce the temperature gradient in the melt,thus increasing the surface of forming nuclei. Besides,the force can also accelerate the nuclei to separate from the surface of the melt and solid / liquid interface to the melt.
