Influece of Transformation Temperature of Lower Bainite on The structral parameters and Mechanical properties of Bearing steel

Until recently,tempered martensite has been generally considered- to be the best choice of heat treated structure as far as strength ane toughn- ess is concerned.The toughness of lower bainite is superior to tempered martensite,but the strength is somewhat lower.According to recent experim- ental data,the strength of lower bainite structure is enhanced as the transf- urmation temperature lowers.Based on this idea,the present investigation attempts to evaluate the microstructure and mechanical properties of lower bainite transformed between M_s—M_f temperatures.Experimental results demonstrate that both the strength and toughness of lower bainite transformed between M_s—M_f temperatures is superior to tempered martensite.There exists a temperature range of heat treatment with underlying underdeveloped mec- hanical properties.It is a worthy discovery with brilliant perspective.
