Enhanced Natural Convective Heat Transfer of Oil over Horizontal Tube Using Electric Field

Experimental study was carried out for the enhancements of natural convective heat transfer of oil over a horizontal heated tube by applying high voltage direct electric field between the heat transfer tube and concentric mesh tube. The experiment results show that the high voltage direct electric field has a strong enhanced effect on the natural convective heat transfer. The experiment specifically investigated the effects of direct electric field intensity, the temperature of the oil and heat flux on enhanced heat transfer factor. In the test, the convective heat transfer coefficient is increased by once under the applied direct voltage of 4 kV.
