The Influence of the Stress State on Retained Austenite Stability in Transformation Induced Plasticity Steels

The influence of the macro stress state on retained austenite stability was investigated by uniaxial tension,plane strain and equibiaxial stretching experimentations.To evaluate the volume fraction of retained austenite under variable plastic strain,X-ray diffraction method was adopted.Based on these experimental results,the influence of the multiaxial stress state on the transformation rate mechanism was clarified and an equation of the volume fraction of retained austenite as a function of plastic strain was developed.The results indicate the effects of stress triaxiality on the phase transformation kinetics,and transformation kinetics equation was introduced by summarizing the experiment data.
