The effects of various planting patterns and nitrogen fertilizer application methods on yield of single cropping hybrid Japonica rice var. 8 you 161 were investigated through experiments carried out in Hangzhou. The results showed that under medium soil fertility the highest grain yields were obtained when 210 and 270 kg/hm 2 of pure nitrogen were applied using the medium stage heavier fertilization method, and the third highest yield was obtained when 270kg N/hm 2 were applied using the early and late stage heavier fertilization method. The best plant density was 250000 plants/hm 2 combining one seedling per hole and planting spacing of 24.0cm×16.7cm, followed by the plant density of 250000 plants/hm 2 combining one seedling per hole and planting spacing of 30.0cm×13.3cm.
