Correlation and path analyses between the body weight and body size of Chongming White Goat and Xuhuai Goat

The phenotypic correlations and direct and indirect effects between adult female goats' body weight and several body measurements of Chongming White Goat and Xuhuai Goat were analyzed by the SPSS 16.0 software,and then the optimum regression equations between their body weight and body measurements were established.The results indicated that the horn basal perimeter could be considered as a major factor to predict the adult female goat body weight in the selection of Chongming White Goat,and the chest depth and shoulder width as two major factors in the selection of Xuhuai Goats.The optimal regression model of adult female goats' body measurments and body weight was Y=-14.5244+1.9162X5+0.3862X4 for Chongming White Goat and Y=-47.4653+1.7264X2+2.0831X8 for Xuhuai Goat.
