ANALYSIS OF HETEROSIS,COMBINING ABILITY AND PATH COEFFICIENTS IN Japonica RICE HYBRIDS

This paper describes the analysis of heterosis,combining ability and path coefficients for 8 rice varieties and their 15 hybrids respectively. The results obtained showed that heteroses of grain weight and dry plant weight were significant in F1,and mainly derived from parents'interaction. Among the yield characters,grains per panicle and number of filled grains showed the strongest heteroses which mainly derived from restorer lines,but the plant height heterosis was affected by male sterile lines. The analysis of combining ability indicated that 88122A had the highest general combining ability,8204A had higher specific combining ability, among the restorer lines, both R161 and R254 revealed higher general combining ability. The results of correlation analysis and path analysis showed that dry weight of plant, number of panicles, grain weight/plant weight and grains per panicle had significant correlation with grain weight per plant,among which the filled grain number per panicle was a more important character.
