MODULATION OF MOUSE SPLENIC LYMPHOCYTE PROLIFERATiON BY β-ENDORPHIN VIA OPIATE RECEPTOR

Receptor for βb-endorphin expressed on activated mouse spleen cells was detected byusing the method of radio-receptor binding assay. Specific binding of β-endorphin to the receptor was found only on activated mouse splenic lymphocytes,but not on the resting, nonstimulated lymphocytes. This binding of β-endorphin could be blocked by unlabelled β-endorphin or naIoxone. These results suggested that the synergetic effect of β-endorphin on lymphocytes proliferation be mediated through the receptor of β-en dorphin.
