Wu Jun;
With the advent of post-industrial society, urban form has begun to shift from production to consumer. The traditional social theory in explaining urban renewal and development has been challenged. To address this challenge, the new Chicago School proposed "The Theory of Scenes" to explain new urban social phenomenon. They believe that the scene is the combinations of "urban amenities". These combinations not only contains the function, but also convey the culture and values. Culture and values inherent in the composition and distribution of urban amenities in the city life, and a sense of forming an abstract symbol and the information is passed to a different crowd. The urban scenes attract high-level human and produce aggregation effect. It can promote urban renewal and transformation.
