Effect of polysaccharides from Ulva pertusa on immune function in mice

PurposeTo investigate the effect of polysaccharides from Ulva pertusa on immune function in mice.MethodsThe effect of ig polysaccharides from Ulva pertusa in dose of 50, 100,200 mg/(kg·d) for 15 days on immune function was studied in mice.ResultsThe polysaccharides from Ulva pertusa markedly enhanced the weight index of thymus and spleen at the dose of 200 mg/(kg·d),and significantly enhanced theproliferation of spleen T lymphocytes,the activity of NK cells,the clearance of charcoal particle,the delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) and the serum hemolysins in mice at the dose of 100 and 200 mg/(kg·d) respectively.ConclusionThe results showed that the polysaccharides from Ulva pertusa had an obvious effect of improving immune function in mice,which suggested one of mechanisms of its inhibiting the growth of sarcoma in mice.
