The Regulating Function of Two Immortals Decoction and Its Separated Formulas in GnRH Transcription and Expression In Hypothalamus of Old Rats

This paper reports the regulating function of Two Immortals Decoction(Rhizoma Curculiginis,Herba Ephnedii,Radix Morindae Officinalis,Radix Angelicae Sinensis,Rhizoma Anemarrhenae,Cortex Phellodendri) and its two separated formulas of warm property(the first four ingredients)and cold property(the latter two ingredients)in the contents of GnRH mRNA in hypothalamus and GnRH in hypephysis in female and male SD rets of 24 months old.The results showed that the level of transcription and expression of GnRH gene decreased in the hypothalamus in 24-month old male and female rats,which indicates a decreased activity of GnRH neuron in the hypothalamus of the rat in this age and an increase in senility in the reproductive system.The effect of Two Immortals Decoction and its separated formulas to increase the transcription level of GnRH gene in the hypothalamus in female and male old rats and enhance the unit content of adenohypophysis may indicate that the partial mechanism of Two Immortals Decoction in the effective treatment of climacteric syndrome is related to this formula's property to postpone senility and enhance transcription and expression level of GnRH in hypothalmamus.
