ZHANG Ting,LI Qi zhong,CHEN Wei juan Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine ZHANG Shao jun Chinese Medicine Hospital,Jiading Dictrict,Shanghai
In comparative study on the "heart" in the anatomy, physiology and disease patterns between Chinese medicine and western medicine, the authors believe that the heart in the organ phenomena is based upon certain anatomical knowledge. The heart in the theoretic system of Chinese medicine is similar to the heart of western medicine in the physiological functions, but it exceeds the relative knowledge of the hear in western medicine, for it is related to the cardiovascular system, nervous system, blood system and metabolic functions. It was concluded by comparison that theoretic extension of the heart phenomena in Chinese medicine was not created in a slipshod way and was based upon large numbers of detailed experience and facts. Some insufficiency exists in the concept of the heart in western medicine and the morphological limit of the local organ was not the border of its functions.
