Influence of Different Boron Application Methods on Boron Absorption and Transport in Cotton

Boron uptake and partitioning rule were studied in a field trial by partially leaf boron application,different application frequency and boron applicat ion combined with sorbitol in this study. The result indicated that boron application significantly increased boron uptake in cotton,while mobility of boron in plant turned weak,and boron uptake by leaf mainly stayed in leaves that absorb boron directly. Boron application leaded to a decrease in boron content in stem compared with control. Part- leaf boron application experiment showed that only 9.98% boron absorbed by B- applied leaf could be transmitted into other parts,among of which,the transporting value between leaves was 28.82%. Sorbitol can promote the absorption of boron,and the absorption amount increases 38% compared with the amount under the condition of single boron application. Sorbitol mainly helped boron to transfer to reproductive organ,and the absorption amount of boron in reproductive organ increased 23.28%compared with the amount of single boron application. High frequency of boron application promoted boron uptake initially and decreased afterwards in leaves,and boron content in stem and roots decreased with the increase of boron application frequency,whereas boron content in shell and seeds increased with the increase of boron application frequency. Therefore,the transfer ability of boron in cotton plant was relatively weak,and boron application with sorbitol or multiple spraying is beneficial to the absorption and transport of boron.
