Design of IIR Digital Filter Using TMS320C5402

IIR filter is widely used in the digital signal processing field. The digital filters can be classified into IIR filter and FIR filter. Under the same condition, IIR filter performance is better than that of FIR filters, such as processing speed and memory required. But it is hardly to be implemented on the fixed point DSP. The computing of feedback channel of the IIR filters may cause output to overflows. Although scaling the output may solve the problem, it may produce some errors. In this paper, the design of an IIR digital filter is introduced. Furthermore, a simplified design of an IIR filter is also discussed with the analysis of the IIR structure. In this way, the algorithm can be implemented on TMS320C5402, computing of input and OP amplifier can be omitted, and the errors are also very small. Simulational result is satisfactory.
