Extraction and study of response spectrum parameters

The response spectrum parameters of strong ground motion are extracted by an automatic searching procedure based on the principle of the minimum standard deviation and the relation of these parameters to magnitude of earthquake and distance from source is analyzed in this paper. The results demonstrate that for both rock and soil sites, the corner period and platform height of spectrum curve increase with magnitude getting bigger, but the corner period gets longer and the height gets lower with the increase of source distance. The mean value of attenuation coefficient in declining part of standard response spectrum is obtained about 1.5.
