The deformational and stress behavior of wooden frame of Chinese ancient buildings under horizontally reverse load

Through an experimental study on three wooden frame models, made in accordance with the requirements for the shape and structure by Ying Zao Fa Shi(Building Standards)of the Song Dynasty(960-1270.A.D), the behavior and the mortise-tenon joint mechanisms of such frame in the corresponding state has been put to analysis.As a result of the study on the rotational moment and the displacement of six mortisetenon joints, the rotation rigidity of these mortisetenont joints has been defined,bring forward the caculating model for this type of wooden structure under horizontally seismic action. By means of comparison, the agreement of theoretical calculation with the test results has been proved with reference to the maximum strain on the normal section of efang(beam). The rationality and effectiveness of the model suggested provides a useful reference for the study of the characteristics of Chinese ancient buildings under the horizontally seismic action.
