Simplified method for ductile seismic design of railway rectangular hollow piers

Simplified methods for ductile seismic design provided by "code for seismic design of railway engineering" are presented.A simplified formula for calculating curvature ductility coefficient of rectangular concrete section compressed eccentrically is deduced theoretically.Combining with formulas for calculating the equivalent length of the plastic hinges in the codes of many countries,the formula for displacement ductility coefficients is obtained.Then based on one bridge of DaLi-RuiLi railway line,displacement ductility coefficients of rectangular hollow piers calculated by both methods provided by the code and theoretical formula are basically identical.All these will be helpful to provide some reference for ductility design of similar bridges.
