Some Thoughts on Mesozoic Volcanic Rocks in Northeast Asia

Mesozoic volcanic rocks in northest Asia can be grouped into three volcanic belts, i. e. intracontinental circular volcanic belt, latitudinal volcanic belt and continental marginal NNEoriented volcanic belt. The formation of the volcanic rocks was related to the complicated geodynamical processes, such as the tectonic evolution of both Paleo-Asia and Pacific tectonic regimes and the geochemical processes of deep mantle. As the oceanic lithsphere of Paleo-Asian regime was subducted down into deep mantle, the uprising of hot mantle plume at the 670 km discontinuity was the key factor that controlled the Mesozoic tectonic evolution and volcanic activities in northeast Asia.The relationship among mantle plume and lithospheric evolution and igneous activities will be the key task in the future study on the tectonic evolution and the origin of the megascale volcanic province in northeast Asia.
